I love basil, and right now my garden is overflowing with basiliciousness! I’m adding it to everything right now, but we just can’t eat it fast enough. My two favorite ways to preserve basil are by making basil cubes and pesto sauce. Great information on both of these methods here. The basil cubes are great to add to soups and sauces through the winter and pesto is delicious on pasta, grilled cheese sandwiches, pizza…really anything if you are a fan of basil.
Home-grown basil can be a great mood-lifter during the dark days of winter when you need an infusion of summer in your day. It invokes memories of soil, sun, water, life, and adds a beautiful fresh quality to food. I’m loving it now, and I’ll be loving it later!
